WFDU2 Archives: Buckman

Host profile: Buckman

Bucky may be a newbie to broadcasting, but he is a veteran of the music scene, with a deep love and knowledge of all things strings. Buckman has regularly performed since the age of 12, playing dances at high schools, roller rinks, National Guard armories, compost festivals with Quicksilver Messenger Service, SF’s Mabuhay Gardens, Max’s Kansas City, CBGBs, Irving Plaza, the Mudd Club, Harrah’s, and too many places to count in between. He brings his love of string instruments, and stellar performances, to bear in String Theory.

“String theory is a theoretical framework in which the point-like particles of particle physics are replaced by one-dimensional objects called strings. Though a string appears just like an ordinary particle, its mass, charge and other properties are determined by its vibrational state. String theory is thought to describe an enormous landscape of possible universes. I believe that our string instruments stimulate these vibrations in our world and the next. So I will attempt to vibrate your particles into utter ecstasy by playing masters of the strings, across all styles and genres, with old and new music on, on, on … across the universe!”
